About

I invite you to explore One Savvy Wanderer as I highlight my past, present, and future travel adventures in hopes of bringing out the little bit of wanderlust that is in us all.

I am Andrea, a full-time working mom and wife who loves to travel in an effort to have a healthy work-life balance.  I’ve been a human resources professional for almost 10 years and could probably write a blog about it, but since I already spend 50+ hours per week consumed by all things HR, I decided that I needed a side hustle hobby that does not include my day job.

So that brings me back to how I love to travel.  In my free-time (you know, in between being a girl boss | mom | stepmom | wife) you can find me researching our future travel plans, much to my husband’s displeasure.  I bring up my husband because if it wasn’t for him and his hard work, we wouldn’t be able to travel as much as we do, but I should mention that he is an accountant and therefore is very, err, economical.  He puts up with my constant dreaming of our upcoming travels, and accompanies me on said trips, and in return I spend way too much time researching the most affordable way to fulfill my wanderlust.

wanderlust | a strong desire or impulse to wander or travel and explore the world.

I consider myself a fairly savvy traveler who has often found herself silently questioning the travel decisions that others make (“you paid how much for airfare?!”), and I thought I could share my travel experiences along with budget-savvy tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way.  This isn’t a digital nomad writing awe-inspiring chronicles of her never-ending travel adventures.  And even though I am a mom, this isn’t going to focus on family vacations or how to travel the world with baby-in-tow.  In fact, most of my travels are without children, as I am a strong believer that one of the reasons I have a healthy marriage is because my husband and I are able to travel together, just the two of us.  Now, don’t get me wrong, we do take family vacations and I will definitely share my experiences with traveling with kids, but that won’t be the focus.  The heart of One Savvy Wanderer is truly about how to overcome traveling barriers (i.e.: money, kids, culture/language barriers, flying on airplanes – more about that later) to make it an affordable reality.
